Clarion 9th Grade Football Team Ties Brookville, 7th-8th Grade Team Falls To Raiders (11/01/15)

The Junior High Football Teams played Brookville on Wednesday, October 21st, with the Bobcat 9th Graders tying the Raiders 14-14, while the 7th and 8th Grade Cats fell 36-8.

NINTH GRADE GAME

The Raiders opened the scoring with 1:27 left in the first, on a 70 yard touchdown pass from Trenton Gilhousen to Bryan Dworek. They extended the lead to 14-0, on a 5 yard run by Gabe Park, with twenty-seven seconds left in the half. The touchdown was set up by a Raider interception.

The score remained 14-0, Raiders until 6:49 was left in the game, when Bobcat quarterback Archer Mills hit Sam Minich for a touchdown on a 4th and 14 play. Mills then threw to Guth for the conversion, cutting the deficit to 14-8.

The Cats scored once again. With 1:33 left in the game, Mills threw to Logan Minich for a touchdown. The conversion attempt failed, setting the final at 14-14.

Logan Minich had an interception for Clarion, Drew Wrhen forced and recovered a Raider fumble and Tyler Wolbert recovered an errant Raider lateral.

SEVENTH /  EIGHTH GRADE GAME

Brookville scored two first half touchdowns. Marshall Hunt ran the ball in for a 6-0 Raider lead in the first. The Raiders second score came with about five minutes left in the second quarter, on a sweep to the left, with quarterback Jack Krug carrying for a five yard touchdown. Hunt ran the conversion in, giving the visitors a 14-0 lead.

Brookville’s number 18 (sorry we didn’t get his name) had a 33 yard touchdown run with 1:56 left in the third, to move the score to 20-0.

Hunt scored on a 3 yard run with 4:41 left in the game and Krug hit number 18 for the conversion moving the score to 28-0.

Clarion scored their points, with 3:11 left, when Cal German rolled right and hit Colton Zacherl in the right side of the endzone for a 30 yard touchdown. German rolled left and hit Wyatt Troup for the conversion, cutting the score to 28-8.

Brookville added to their score, with Krug taking the keeper down the left side for a 35 yard touchdown. Krug ran the conversion also to set the 38-6 final.
