Bobcat Wrestlers Down Cranberry And Johnsonburg In Tri-Meet, Junior High Downs Cranberry (12/15/15)

The Clarion Area Wrestling Team traveled to Johnsonburg on Friday (December 11th), to face the Rams and the Cranberry Berries in a tri-meet, to open the Bobcats 2015 season. The Cats came away with a 51-25 victory over the Berries and a 66-3 triumph over the Rams. The Junior High Team also won their match against Cranberry 39-17.

VARSITY: CLARION 51 – CRANBERRY 25

Falls by Colt Stimmell at 182 (2:00) and Alexander Burkhart at 195 (3:51), a forfeit win by Zach Sintobin at 220, a pin by Zack Huet at 285 (:27) and a forfeit win by Login Dehner gave the Cats a 30-0 lead.

Alex Struble lost a 5-2 decision at 113. And the Berries received a forfeit victory at 120 to cut the Bobcats lead to 30-9. Riley McMaster had a pin at 132, to make the score 36-9, Cats.

Frankie Weber (132) and Caleb Bailey (138) lost by fall moving the score to Clarion 36 – Cranberry 21.

The Cats took the next two matches as Sterling Connor was awarded a forfeit, at 145 and Leo Aiello won by fall at 152, giving Clarion a 48-21 lead. Prince Brooks fell by a major decision and Mike LeFay won 10-3, to set the final at Clarion 51 – Cranberry 25.

VARSITY: CLARION 66 – JOHNSONBURG 3

Sintobin (220) and Huet (285) registered falls, followed by forfeit wins by Dehner (106) and Alex Struble (113) giving the Cats a 26-0 lead after four matches.

Following a double forfeit at 120, Ryley McMaster won by forfeit at 126 and 132 pounder Frank Weber pinned his opponent, to move the score to 35-0, Cats.

Caleb Bailey dropped a 9-3 decision, at 138, followed by a decision win from Aiello at 145 and a forfeit going to John McSwain at 152 and the Cats led 45-3.

Brooks recorded a decision at 160, LeFay won by forfeit at 170, Stimmell won by forfeit at 182 and Burkhart won by fall at 195 giving the Cats the 66-3 decision.

JUNIOR HIGH: CLARION 39 – CRANBERRY 17

Aiden Wiles won by fall. Riley Slagle won by decision. Wyatt Stimmell, Jeremiah Hartzell, Ben Smith, Matt Coleman and Curtis Shipley all won by forfeits, to give the Bobcats the 39-17 win.

JUNIOR HIGH : CLARION 42 – JOHNSONBURG 40

Wyatt Stimmell and Ayden Wyles each won by fall. Cole Stutzman, Riley Slagle, Justiin Goodman, Ben Smith and Matt Coleman all won by forfeit.

The Bobcats will travel to Keystone, tomorrow (Tuesday, December 15th).
