Clarion Girls Basketball Teams Split With Union (12/03/15)

8th Grade Game: Clarion 24 Union 16

Clarion picked up where they left off before the Thanksgiving break with a 24-16 victory over Union Wednesday (December 3rd) afternoon in Rimersburg. The Lady Cats were up 14-8 at the half and 20-16 after three quarters. They then shut out the Damsels 4-0 in the final stanza to get the victory. Clarion was led by Kyara Girvan who pumped in 12 points. Kaitlyn Constantino followed with 6 points. Maria Bradley, Ava Cherico, and Kate Murtha each finished with 2 points. It was Murtha’s first game back after sitting out the last three weeks with a concussion.

 

7th Grade Game: Union 24 Clarion 9

A big third quarter propelled the Damsels to a 24-9 victory over the Lady Cats. Clarion was only down 10-5 at the half, but Union came out strong in the decisive third quarter and outscored their neighbors to the north 12-2. Each team scored 2 points in the last quarter to set the final score. Ava Cherico led the way with 5 points, followed by Brennah Copenhaver and Alli Stivanson with a basket each.

Clarion gets back on the hardwood today (Thursday, December 4th), as they host the Karns City Gremlins.
