Basketball: Bobcats Down Keystone, Lady Cats Down Brockway

BOYS GAME

Both Clarion Area Varsity Basketball Teams came away with victories on Monday (January 11th), with the Bobcat Boys downing visiting Keystone 56-52 and the Lady Cats defeating homestanding Brockway 50-24.

Jonathan Smith scored 22 points and pulled in 18 rebounds to lead the Cats. Reed Anthony also hit double figures with 10 points, while Brendan Miller scored nine. Ceventh Lynch-Skunda had six points. Ty Burford and Ryan Anthony each had three points, Spencer Miller had 2 and Cameron Craig had one.

Clarion led 19-9 after one. The Panthers held a 26-25 halftime lead and a 38-36 lead after three. A 20-14 Bobcat advantage in the final stanza set the 56-52 final.

Austin Ion had 18 points for the Panthers, followed by Tanner Wilson with 11 and Mason Rearick with nine.

The Bobcats are now 9-2 on the season.

GIRLS GAME

Anna Reed scored thirteen points to lead the Lady Cats to the 50-24 win, followed by Jenna Beichner’s ten points. Kelly Beveridge had 7 points, Wendy Beveridge and Alexis Constantino each had five. Gloria Kroh scored 4 points and Maddie Weaver scored one.

Clarion led 18-8 after one, 25-12 at the half and 41-18 after three. Reed had 4 steals and Kroh had five rebounds.

Both Clarion teams will host Redbank Valley tonight (Wednesday, January 13th).
