Bobcats Wrestlers Down Chucks, Junior High Also Victorious (01/21/16)

The Clarion Area Wrestling Squads traveled to Punxsutawney on Tuesday (January, 19th), with Bobcat Varsity winning 43-27 and the Junior High Cats winning a 46-45 match.

Zach Sintobin won by fall, at 195, to open the match to give the Cats a 6-0 lead. Tom Wurster lost by fall at 220 and Punxy got a forfeit win at 285, giving the Chucks a 12-6 lead.

With four straight forfeit wins by Logan Dehner (106), Alex Struble (113), Blake Phillips (120) and Adrian Weber (126), Clarion led 30-12.

Caleb Bailey lost by fall at 138 and Colton Rapp fell 6-2, at 145, to see the Chucks cut the Bobcat lead to 30-21.

Prince Brooks registered  a 9-3 win at 152, followed by a forfeit win by Punxy at 160.

With the Cats holding a 33-27 lead, Mike LeFay scored a 15-4 major decision at 170 moving the Cats lead to 37-27, to seal the victory.

Seth Nellis won by fall at 182, to set the 43-27 final.

Clarion won a 46-45 criteria decision in the Junior High match.

Leading the way, with falls, for the Bobcats were: Wyatt Stimmell (95), Jeremiah Hartzell (100), Ayden Wiles (145) and Justin Goodman (165). Ben Smith won by decision at 185.

Receiving forfeit victories for the Bobcats were: Matt Coleman (210), Bowman Hartley (250), Joshua Miller (130) and Jordan Pezzutti (138).

The Bobcat Varsity Wrestlers will compete in the Mercer Tournament on Friday and Saturday (January 22nd and 23rd).
