Zach Sintobin Captures 100th Win At Northwest Regional Wrestling Tournament, Moves On To States (03/09/16)

Clarion Area senior 195 pound wrestler, Zach Sintobin had a very good outing at the Northwest Regional Wrestling Tournament, held last Friday and Saturday (March 4th and 5th), at Sharon High School.

Zach finished second, and will continue on to the State Tournament, this coming weekend and recorded his 100th win in the process, as well as securing a spot in this coming weekend’s State Championships.

After a first round bye, he picked up win number 99, in the quarterfinals, with a 10-3 win over Conneaut Area’s Braden Morris.  He hit the Century Mark with a with a 5-0 win over Cambridge Springs’ Devon Simpson. Zach lost by fall in the Championship match to Blake Reynolds of Greenville.

Zach joins an elite group of Bobcats in the 100 Win Club: Kyle Cathcart (134), Brad Rapp (116) and Manny Carpin (104).

Zach’s coach and father Rob Sintobin had this to say about  his son’s moving on to states, “Zach’s ready for the state tournament. He’s at the top of his game right now. His 2nd place finish in the region put him in a great place on the state bracket and he’s excited about this great opportunity. We leave Wednesday for Hershey and practice in the Hershey Center before competing at 9:00 am on Thursday morning.”

Also competing in Regionals for the Bobcats were sophomore Colton Rapp, at 145 and junior Mike LeFay, at 170.

After a bye, Colton lost by fall to Commodore Perry’s John Mott, in the quarterfinals. He defeated Jacob Kallenborn from Port Allegany 2-0, in the consolation quarterfinals and then lost by fall to Seneca’s Chris Hibbler. Mike fell to Hickory’s Robbie Thomas, by a 15-6 major decision in the preliminary round. he lost by fall to Brookville’s Xavier Molnar, in the first round consolations.
