Bobcat Track And Field Teams Sweep Berries (04/09/16)

The Clarion Area Boys and Girls Track and Field Teams swept visiting Cranberry on Wednesday (April 6th), with the Bobcats posting a 79-69 win and the Lady Cats coming out on top 97-44.

BOYS

Kyle Patterson 300 hurdles

Kyle Patterson – 300 hurdles

Brendan Zerfoss and Josh Kriebel each won two individual events. Zerfoss won the 100 (11.4) and the 200 (24.2), qualifying for Districts in each event. Kriebel won the 100 high hurdles (16.2) and the long jump (19-1). His leap qualified for Districts in the long jump. Kriebel finished in second in the 200.

Nick Cherico won the shot put (32-9) and finished second in the discus. Marshall Powers placed first in the 400 (58.7) and third in the 100 and Jimmy Smathers won the javelin (143-8).

The 4×100 relay (Kyle Patterson, Zerfoss, Jacob Burns and Archer Mills) were victorious turning in a 47.8, as was the 4×400 relay (Adam Bettwy, Austin Hummel, Powers, Mills) with a 3:51.2 time.

Adam Bettwy had a pair of seconds, in the 1600 and 3200. Jacob burns had a second in the 400 and a third in the long jump. Others turning in second place performances were: Tom Hearst (pole vault), Mike LeFay (long Jump, Mills (high jump) and Patterson (300 hurdles).

Others with third place finishes were: Kyle Bettwy (3200), Hummel (800), Clayton McElravy (shot put), Harrison Porter (pole vault) and Curtis Shipley (high jump).

GIRLS

Gloria Kroh was a double winner taking the 100 hurdles (18.9) and the triple jump (29.6), while also finishing third in the 300 hurdles.

Wendy Beveridge won the long jump (14-6). Meredith Burkhart was victorious in the javelin (90-0). Phylicia Hockman recorded a win in the 200 (30.7) and finished third in the 100, which was won by Alexa Kriebel (14.6).

Lexi Lauer recorded a first, second and third in the high jump (4-6), 100 hurdles and 200 respectively. Forest Mills recorded a first and a third, winning the 400 (1:12) and placing in the 800.

Claire Saylor won the shot put (27-1. 75) and finished third in the discus. Elsa Tovar did the reverse, winning the discus (82-1) and finishing third in the shot put. Gabby Weaver won the 300 hurdles (52.6) and placed third in the long jump.

Hannah Phillips recorded three second place finishes, in the 100, 200 and triple jump. Katie Craig finished second in the high jump and third in the 1600, while Dorothy Kalinowski took second in the discus and Chelsea Mason finished second in the 3200.

Elizabeth Ketner in the 400, Maya Miller in the triple jump and Devon Quinn in the high jump, each took thirds. Both relays, 4×100 (Mills, Weaver, Beveridge and Kriebel – 59.8) and 4×400 (Mills, Weaver, Beveridge and Craig – 4:31.5) were victorious.

The Boys will face Moniteau and Karns City at Karns City, while the Girls will face the same schools at Moniteau on Wednesday (April 13th).
