Forest Mills Concludes Track Season At States (05/30/16)

Forest Mills completed her 2016 track season at the PIAA State Track and Field Meet at Shippensburg University’s Seth Grove Stadium, this past weekend. Mills ran a 2:29.67 in the Girls AA 800 meters to finish 20th.

District Nine had a number of medal winners, in AA, led by Moniteau’s Maura Kimmel and Brookville’s Ryan Thrush, who both captured Gold. Kimmel won the Girls discus with a throw of 146-7. She also took third in the shot put, with a distance of 42-7. Thrush won the Boys400 meters with a time of 48.71.

Redbank Valley’s Brooke Hinderliter followed up her 2015 Gold in the Girls javelin, with a Silver this year. Hinderliter threw 145-1.

Other medalists for the Girls in AA include: Moniteau’s Cambrie Campbell, with a third in the Girls javelin, with a throw of 140-0 and Brittany Lindsay with a fifth in the shot put, with a toss of 39-1.25; and Elk County Catholic’s Cassidy Cunningham, who finished seventh in the shot put at 37-9.

Other medalists in the Boys AA include: Kane’s Shane Rolick, who tied for third in the pole vault, with a height of 13-6; Trae Smith, from Cameron County who took sixth in the javelin, with a throw of 181-3; Joseph Newton, from Kane with an eighth in the 110 meter hurdles, at 15:33; and Kane’s Austin Labesky, who took eighth in the javelin, with a throw of 181-3.

St. Marys’ Tom Bojalad brought home two medals in Boys Class AAA. He took third in the discus, with a throw of 172.7 and fourth in the shot put with a mark of 56-2.5.
