Track And Field: Bobcats And Lady Cats Sweep Union; Lady Cats Also Down DuBois Central Christian (05/15/16)

The Bobcat Girls and Boys Track And Field Teams swept Union on Tuesday (May 10th) in a home meet. The Girls Team also hosted DuBois Central Catholic in their tri-meet. The Girls downed Union 83-53 and DCC 69-59. The Boys defeated Union 84-64.

Girls

Wendy Beveridge was a triple winner, capturing the long jump (16-1.5) and the triple jump (33-5) and teaming with Forest Mills, Alexa Kriebel and Gabby Weaver, to win the 4 x100 relay (54.5). Weaver also finished second in the 100.

Mills also won the 800 (2:34.7) and joined with Hannah Phillips, Phylicia Hockman and Gabby Weaver to win the 4×400 relay (4:28.4).

The Lady Cats had one other individual winner, with Elsa Tovar winning the discus (73.5).

Clarion’s other second place finishers were: Lexi Lauer in the high jump, Claire Saylor in the shot put, Dorothy Kalinowski in the discus and Meredith Burkhart in the javelin.

Third place finishers were: Weaver in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Kriebel in the 100, Katie Craig in the 1600, Emma Murtha in the 400, Phillips in the 200 and triple jump and Burkhart in the shot put.

Boys

Josh Kriebel was a triple winner, taking the 100 hurdles (15.5), 300 hurdles (43.2) and shot put (39.4). Adam Bettwy was a double winner, capturing the 1600 (5:15.7) and 3200 (11:29.6).

Archer Mills won the high jump (5-2) and Tom Hearst was victorious in the pole vault (9-6). The Bobcats swept the javelin, but we don’t have the names of the individual place winners.

Finishing in second place were: Mike LeFay in the 100 hurdles, Mills in the 100, Frank Weber in the 1600, Kyle Patterson in the 300 hurdles, Austin Hummell in the 800, Noah Cole in the 3200, Jake Burns in the long and triple jumps, Curtis Shipley in the high jump and Nick Cherico in the shot put.

Third place finishers were. Burns in the 100, Nick Schill in the 1600, Bettwy in the 800, Mills in the 200 Kyle Bettwy in the 3200, Shipley in the long jump and Harrison Porter in the pole vault.

The Bobcats and Lady Cats competed in the Redbank Valley Tournament on Thursday (May 12th). We will be posting an article on that meet shortly. They will then compete in the District IX Championships, at Brookville on Friday (May 20th).
