Bobcat Football Team Has Another Solid Scrimmage, Regular Season Next (08/28/16)

(By Clarion Sports Zone reporter Matt Buchanan)

On Friday (August 26th) the Clarion Bobcats set sail for “Dutch” Country in a preseason scrimmage showdown.

Here’s a few of the highlights:

Saint Mary’s opening drive featured a two back attack of #22 and #35, both getting 3 carries each for a total of 23 tough yards.

When Clarion took over, they went to their bread and butter with a ground attack by junior running back Colton Rapp, who finished it off with a 35yd TD scamper.

The Cats’ first defensive gem came from senior linebacker Kyle Patterson, who picked off a pass and ran it back 20 yards for the score! Also getting involved on the defense were senior linebacker Jay Remmick and junior defensive end Jacob Selker, getting a half a sack each.

Not to be forgotten, the Dutch also had a nice gem of their own, #8 had 2 big sacks on Clarion, which fired up his squad.

When the Bobcat JV squad came in, they were moving the ball nicely with the help of a pair of #26’s, one at quarterback (Archer Mills), one at running back (Logan Minich), showing that the Bobcats have not just talent, but also good depth at multiple positions.

Clarion looks to have their eyes fixed on getting a win in week one, as they host the Punxsutawney Chucks at Memorial Stadium on Friday (September 2nd)!
