Lady Cats To Host 16th Annual Clarion Area Volleyball Tournament Tomorrow (09/23/16)

The 16th Annual Clarion Area Volleyball Tournament will take place tomorrow (Saturday, September 24th).

The tournament will be run at two sites Clarion Area High School (both main and auxiliary gyms and at Keystone High School, will include twenty-one teams from across Western Pennsylvania.

Pool Play will begin promptly at 8:30 AM.

Pool A and Pool B will be in Clarion Area’s Main Gym. Pool A will consist of DuBois, Coudersport, Maplewood and Altoona. Pool B will include North Clarion, Elk County Catholic, A-C Valley and Shenango.

Pool C, which will be in Clarion’s Auxiliary Gym, will consist of Clarion, Franklin, Grove City, Huntingdon and Cochranton.

Pools’ D and E will compete at Keystone. Pool D will consist of Cranberry, Mercyhurst Prep, Warren and Fort LeBoeuf, while Pool E will include Keystone, Bradford, Cambridge Springs and North Star.

There will be a break after pool play to allow charts to be updated and the teams to and from travel from Keystone.

Pool Play: Five Team pools will play two games to 25, scoreboard starts at 5-5, cap at 27.  4 Team pool will play three games to 25, scoreboard starts at 5-5, cap at 27.

Playoffs: The top 2 teams from each pool  will advance to the Gold Bracket.  Six teams will advance to the Silver Bracket played in the auxiliary gym at Clarion.  Five teams will advance to the Bronze bracket played at Keystone.   Teams will be ranked within their pools based on overall pool play record.  Ties will be determined by (1) overall record  (2) head to head   (3) point differential.

Gold Playoffs: Play-ins and Quarterfinals will be one (1), 25 point game, scoreboard starts at 0-0.  Semifinals and finals will be the best 2 out of 3 games.  Scoreboards for the semifinals will start at 0-0.  Third games will be a 15-point game.  Scoreboards for the finals will start at 0-0 for all games.  There will be no cap in bracket play.

Silver & Bronze Playoffs: The next 6 teams will advance to the Silver Bracket. The last 5 teams will play in the Bronze Bracket at Keystone.   All Silver & Bronze Bracket play-in matches will be 1, 25 point game (0-0), no cap.  Semis & Finals of Silver & Bronze will be best 2 of 3. Scoreboards for semis & finals will start at 5-5.  Third game will be 15 point game, starting 0-0.  There will be no cap.

Awards: The champion and the runner-up of the gold bracket will receive team trophies.  T-shirts will be awarded to the gold bracket champions.

Concessions: There will be a concession stand available throughout the day in the school lobby.

Please, no outside hot food. T-shirts, long sleeve T’s, Hoodies printed on sight by JI Tees.  Color & tie-dye choices.
