Former Bobcat Cody Hearst Has Big Game In Helping W & J To Presidents Bowl Victory

Former Clarion High School football standout Cody Hearst had a big game, last Friday (November 18th), for the Washington & Jefferson College in the Presidents come from behind 38-31 victory over the Brockport State (NY) Golden Eagles, in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC Presidents Bowl) at the University of Pennsylvania’s famed Franklin Field.

Cody was one of three Presidents’ receivers to have ten or more catches. Cody had 12 catches for 125 yards (both career bests). Jesse Zubik had 13 catches for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns and Jake Cullen had 10 catches for eighty-two yards.

W & J quarterback Pete Coughlin threw for 473 yards, completing a whopping 52 of 73 passes.

The Presidents trailed 17-7, after one quarter and 24-13 at the half. The Golden Eagles upped their lead to 31-13 in the third. But W & J came back with 25 unanswered points. A field goal in the third made the score 31-16, then the Presidents outscored Brockport 22-0 in the final stanza.

Coughlin hit Anthony Keriotis with a 35 yard touchdown pass, with thirteen seconds remaining in the game, breaking a 31-all tie and with the extra points, the Presidents secured the 38-31 win and a 9-2 final record.
