Bobcat Grapplers Down Golden Tide, Fall To Bulldogs (02/15/17)

The Clarion Area Wrestling team went 1 and 1 in matches this week, downing Curwensville 51-18 on Monday (February 13th) and falling to Redbank Valley on Tuesday (February, 14th). The Bobcats were visitors for both matches.

Clarion vs Curwensville

The Bobcats had five wrestlers register pins, in the victory over the Golden Tide, Frank Weber, Ryley McMaster, Colton Rapp and Ben Smith. Sterling Conner won an 8-3 decision.

The Cats also had three wrestlers pick up forfeit wins, Mike LeFay, Logan Dehner and Justin Goodman.

Clarion vs Redbank Valley

The Bobcats opened the match, with two wins against the Bulldogs to lead 12-0. Tom Wurster won by forfeit at 220 and Justin Goodman followed with a pin at heavyweight.

But the Bulldogs went on a seven bout winning streak. Bobcat Logan Dehner lost a close, 4-2 overtime decision, at 106, followed by three Redbank Valley forfeit wins, at 113, 120 and 126. Frank Weber lost by fall at 132, Ryley McMaster lost by injury default and Sterling Conner lost by fall at 145. Redbank now led 39-12.

The Bobcats came back to win three straight. Mike LeFay and Colton Rapp recorded back to back pins at 152 and 160 and Seth Nellis won an 8-5 decision at 170, closing the gap to 39-27. Bryce Klawuhn lost by fall at 182. Ben Smith closed out the match with a pin, setting the final at 45-33.
