Bobcats Down East Forest 15-0 In 3 Innings (05/06/17)

Clarion scored 9 runs in the first inning on their way to a 15-0 victory over visiting Forest Area on Wednesday, May 3rd.  The Bobcats plated 3 runs in both the second and third innings to secure the win as Freshmen pitchers Sklyar Rhoades and Mitch Geiger combined to hold East Forest hitless in the 3 innings of play.

All 15 members of the baseball team saw playing time, with 14 making at least one plate appearance during the game.  Jr. Cam Craig and Fr. Donald Dunkle and Rhoades each had singles and 2 RBI apiece.  Sr. Reed Anthony had a single and RBI and Jr. Spencer Miller contributed a single.  In addition to their 5 hits, Bobcats reached base on 6 Forest Area errors, 5 walks, and 5 hit batsmen.  Sr. Kyle Patterson was hit during each of his 3 plate appearances, leading to him crossing the plate for 3 runs.  Sr. Ryan Anthony and Fr. Lake Staub each had 2 RBI, with Sr. Dominic Fleming and Jr. Sterling Conner both knocking in 1.

Rhoades got the start, throwing 27 pitches over the course of 2 inning and striking out 5 on his way to earning the win.  Geiger pitched the 3rd inning and recorded a strikeout, needing only 7 pitches to finish the game.

Donald Dunkle connects for a single!

Clarion’s record now stands at 8-1 on the season.  The Bobcats have a busy week ahead, as they will be making up games along with playing their regular schedule.  On Monday (05/08) Clarion hosts Cranberry at 4:30, North Clarion comes to County Park on Wednesday (05/10) for a 4:15 game, the Bobcats take on the AC Valley Falcons Thursday in a home make-up game (start time 4:30), and then finish the week by traveling to Seneca for a make-up game against Cranberry on Friday at 4:15.  (schedule subject to change)
