Clarion Little League Roundup: Delta 9 – Lions 7 (7 innings) (Also Standings And HR Leaders) (05/07/17)

In a game which saw them come from behind, Delta claimed a 9-7 extra inning victory over Lions on Thursday evening (May 4th), at Paul A. Weaver Park.  Lions held a 1 run lead going into the top of the sixth, however, Delta went to work and plated 3 runs to take a 7-5 lead.  Far from being finished, Lions scored 2 runs of their own in the home half of the inning to knot the game at 7-7.  It was all Delta in the extra frame, as they scored 2 unanswered runs in the top half of the inning to claim the win.

Brayden Murray wielded the big bat for Delta, collecting a single and two doubles.  Jase Ferguson had two singles, with Ashton Rex and Jack Craig each doubling.

Three Lions’ players had multi-hit games, with Jordon Hesdon, Matt Alston, and Daunte Girvan all singling twice.  Gary Matus and Ryan Alston had a single apiece.

Gabe Simko struck out 6 on his way to earning the win for Delta.  Rex started on the mound for Delta and had 5 strikeouts.  Ferguson also pitched and struck out one.

Hesdon started for the Lions and recorded 5 strikeouts.  Also seeing time on the mound for Lions were Girvan (5 strikouts) and Matus (2 strikeouts).
