Six Baseball Players Named All-Conference, Reed Anthony MVP (05/23/17)

Six Clarion baseball players were named to the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference (KSAC) All-Conference team, with senior Reed Anthony chosen as the 2017 MVP.  Anthony was selected as first-team pitcher and second-team first baseman.  Joining Anthony on the first team was junior infielder Spencer Miller.

Anthony, the Bobcats’ top hurler, had 8 wins for the KSAC Champions, striking out 49 batters in 39 innings of work.  His ERA was an impressive 0.18.  Anthony batted .308 for Clarion with 17 RBI.  He connected for 3 doubles and a home run while drawing 8 walks and stealing 2 bases.  His on-base percentage (OBP) was .387 and slugging percentage (SLG) .425 for an OPS (on base percentage + slugging percentage) of .810.

Spencer Miller

Miller led the Bobcats with a .438 batting average, connecting for 6 doubles and a triple.  He was credited with 9 RBI.  Miller was walked 8 times and he was the team leader with 13 stolen bases.  His OBP of .569, SLG of .604, and OPS of 1.173 were all team highs.

Junior Sterling Conner was named a second-team outfielder.  He batted .261, including 2 doubles and a home run.  Conner drew 11 bases-on –balls and stole 9 bases for the Bobcats.  He had an OBP of .424, SLG of .369), and PS of .794.

Three Clarion players were selected to the KSAC third team, senior Ryan Anthony and freshmen Josh Craig and Skylar Rhoades.  Anthony, a pitcher, had 2 wins with a 1.05 ERA for the Bobcats, fanning 17 in his 20 innings on the mound.  Craig, selected as a DH, had a .211 batting average with 12 RBI.  Rhoades, an outfielder, hit .295 and rapped 12 RBI.
