Track And Field: Clarion Sweeps Union (05/15/17)

The Clarion Area Track and Field Teams traveled to Union last Tuesday (May 9th) and came away with sweep. The Lady Cats defeated the Damsels 123-19 and the Bobcats downed the Knights 104-44.

GIRLS

Laken Lewis was a triple winner, with all her wins in idividual events. Lewis won the 100 hurdles (16.7), the long jump (17.1) and the pole vault (10-0).

Forest Madison Mills won four events, including two individual, taking the 400 (1:04.8), the 800 (2:33) and teaming with Alexa Kriebel, Gabby Weaver and Wendy Beveridge on the winning 4×100 relay (54.1) and joining Weaver, Phylicia Hockman and Lauren Troutman on the winning 4×400 relay (4:51).

Beveridge was a triple winner, as she also took the 100 (13.8) and the triple jump (31-0.25). Weaver had three wins also. In addition to the her relay wins, she finished first in the 300 (49.8). Hockman was a member of another winning relay team, joining Alish Nagy, Chelsea Mason and Ali Troese on the victorious 4×800 relay (12:16). Mason won the 1600 (6:06)

Kyara Girvan won the 200 (28.7). Katie Craig took the 3200 (15:16). Lexi Lauer won the high jump (4-7). Meredith Burkhart won the shot put (25-10). Natalie Glenn won the discus (68-4).

Getting seconds were: Weaver (100) hurdles, Kriebel (100), Craig (1600), Girvan (400), Nagy (300 hurdles), Hockman (800), Troutman (200), Beveridge (long jump), Lauer (triple jump) Lewis (high jump) and Imani Turner (javelin).

Placing third were: Troutman (100 hurdles), Troese (400), Morgan Kahle (triple jump), Turner (discus) and Burkhart (javelin).

BOYS

Brendan Zerfoss and Ty Burford each were double winners in individual events. Zerfoss won the 100 (11.1) and 400 (52.9). Burford won the long jump (19-1.25) and triple jump 40-1.5).

Nick Schill was victorious in the 1600 (4:53). Marshal Powers won the 300 hurdles (42.6). Austin Hummel took the 800 (2:06) and Archer Mills won the 200 (24:3). Adam Bettwy came out on top in the 3200 (10:43) and Jimmy Smathers won the javelin (2150-6).

All three Bobcat relays, the 4×800 (9:54), 4×100 (46:4) and 4×400 (3:43) were victorious (names not available).

Taking seconds for the Bobcats were: Powers (100), Bettwy (1600), Jacob Burns (300 hurdles, long jump), Frank Weger (800, 3200), Mills (high jump), Harrison Porter (pole vault), Nick Cherico (Shot Put), Clay McElravy (discus) and Daniel Ketner (javelin).

Finishing third were: Weber (1600), Smathers (200), McElravy (shot put), Vic Stahlman (discus) and Cherico (javelin).
