Seven Lady Cats Named 2017 TCS/CE Softball All-Stars (07/04/17)

Seven Lady Cat softball players were named to the 2017 Tri-County Sunder/Courier Express (TCS/CE) all-star team. Maya Thornton and Alexis Constantino were first team selections, with Cora Zerfoss, Sadie Rudesyle, and Carly Best named to the second team. Junior Sydney Kiser and freshman Kaitlyn Constantino received Honorable Mention nods.
Thornton, a junior, was selected to the TCS/CE first team as an infielder. She hit .338 for the Lady Cats and collected 28 RBI. Almost fifty percent of Thornton’s 24 hits were for extra bases, as she had 3 home runs, 3 triples, and 5 doubles. Thornton was earlier named to the All-KASC second team at first base.
Also making the TCS/CE first team as an infielder was Alexis Constantino. Constantino, also a junior, posted a .500 batting average and had 17 RBI. She had 34 hits and scored 19 runs. Constantino was an All-KSAC third teamer as an infielder.
Zerfoss made the TCS/CE second team as a catcher. The Lady Cat senior batted .444, banging out 36 hits and knocking in 17 runs. She was an All-KSAC third team selection.
Rudesyle pitched her way onto the TCS/CE second team. She earned 6 wins in 2017, striking out 61 in her 81 innings of work. Her ERA was 3.89. The Lady Cat junior also made the All-KSAC second team as a pitcher.
Best, a sophomore, was selected to the TCS/CE second team as an outfielder. She hit .451 for the Lady Cats, being credited with 13 RBI and scoring 25 runs. Best was named to the All-KSAC second team as an infielder.
A Lady Cat junior and a freshmen each garnered Honorable Mention status. Kiser, the junior, had a .358 batting average with 22 RBI. She was an All-KSAC second team outfielder. Freshman Kaitlyn Constantino batted .400 and knocked in 17 runs during the 2017 campaign.
