Clarion Area Sports Summaries (09/16/17)

VOLLEYBALL
The Lady Cats hosted Clarion-Limestone on Tuesday (September 12th) and came away with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-18, 25-17) victory.

 Lexi Lauer had a big match with 19 points (7 aces), 6 digs and seven kills.
Alexis Constantino scored 8 points, 3 of them aces and had seven digs. Brenna Campbell handed out 26 assists, had one kill and scored five points. Maya Thornton had 4 points, 6 kills and five digs.
Sydney Kiser scored 4 points and had 5 kills and three digs. Maya Miller scored five points. Maddie Schill had five kills and Hailey Sintobin had four kills.
The JVs won in straight sets 25-13 and 25-17. Alaina McMasters had four points.
The visiting Lady Cats downed Keystone in three sets, 25-20, 25-17 and 25-12, on Thursday (September 14th), moving to 4-0.
Maya Thornton had a very solid evening, scoring 11 points, with 14 digs and and ten kills. Brenna Campbell had 29 assists, 8 digs and 10 points. Maddy Schill scored 9 points and had six kills. Alexis Constantino had eleven digs. Maya Miller had 8 points, Kaitlyn Constantino 5 digs and Lexy Lauer registered five kills.
Clarion won the JV contest, 2-0 (25-13, 25-17).
Kyara Girvan rang up a triple seven – 7 points, 7 kills and seven digs. Kaitlyn Constantino had 7 points, 6 kills and four digs. Abbie Slagle had 4 digs and four points.
The Lady Cats will travel to A-C Valley, on Tuesday.
GOLF
The Bobcat Boys were in two KSAC mega matches this past week.
On Monday (September 11th) at Foxburg Country Club, Josh Craig fired a 43, to lead the Cats (243) to a third place finish. Cam Craig and Mitch Geiger each shot a 46. Jackson Fox and Login Dehner each shot a 54 and Lake Staub had a 65.
Moniteau was team champion with a 216, led by medalist Weston Kimmey’s 36.
The Bobcats finished fourth, on Tuesday (September 12th), at Wanango Country Club, with a 253 team total. Cam Craig led the Cats with a 44. Josh Craig followed with a 49. Mitch Geiger had a 51, Login Dehner recorded a 56 and Lake Staub shot a fifty-seven.
Weston Kimmey was medalist, with a 39 to lead Moniteau (225) to the team win.
The Lady Cats finished in third placed with a 181, in Monday’s KSAC mega match at Clarion Oaks. Kylie Craddock recorded a fifty-two.
A-C Valley I was first, with a 137, led by medalist Ellie Thompson’s forty-two.
In Thursday’s match, also at Clarion Oaks, Craddock again led the Lady Cats, with a 52.
Thompson again led A-C Valley I (137) to the team championship, shooting a first place 42.
CROSS COUNTRY
Clarion defeated Moniteau at Clarion County Park, on Tuesday (September 12th).
Clarion had each of the four individual overall champions: Nathaniel Lerch – Varsity Boys (18:26.1), Katie Craig – Varsity Girls (23:25.2), Gavin Hoover – Junior High Boys (10:42.6) and Bella Scott – Junior High Girls (11:50.7)
The Bobcat Varsity Boys had the first the first seven place winners against the Warriors, giving Clarion a perfect 15-50 score; they have yet to give up a dual meet point. Following Lerch, in top five finishes were Nick Schill, Don Cunningham, Frankie Weber and Noah Schill.
Keagan Phillips finished second and Blake Verdill finished fifth in the Boys Junior High meet.
Craig was the only female participant for Clarion. Clarion-Limestone also participated, but didn’t have enough runners in any of the races to score team points.
