Bobcat Gridders Down Warriors, Move To 5-0 (10/01/17)

The Clarion Bobcats hosted the Moniteau Warriors in a KSAC Football Large School Division match-up, on Friday (September 29th), at Memorial Stadium and came away with a 41-7 win.

The Warriors scored on the first possession of the game. Chance Nagy scored on a two yard run. Cody Wise kicked the PAT and Moniteau led 7-0 at 9:05 of the first.

Those were the last points the Warriors would score, as the Bobcats would answer with forty-one straight points.

The Cats would lose star running back Colton Rapp for the game, with an injury sustained on his second carry. But a number of other Cats would pick up the load. In all eleven Bobcats would carry the ball in the game, in which they rushed for 376 yards. The Minich brothers, Logan and Sam, would combine for 193 of those yards and two touchdowns on twenty carries.

But the Bobcats first score came through the air, as Camden Boggess hauled in a pass from quarterback Spencer Miller for a 30 yard touchdown and with Archer Mills’ kick the score was tied at 6:44 of the first.

The Minich brothers would score their touchdowns in the second quarter. Logan, who had 109 yards rushing on 13 carries for the night, ran in from thirty-seven yards out at 8:21. Mills was successful again and the Cats led 14-7. Sam’s touchdown came on a forty-one yard run at 6:14. The two point conversion attempt failed and Clarion led 20-7. Sam had 84 yards in the game, on 7 carries.

The Bobcats would put up fourteen more points in the third quarter, with Keeven Weaver crossing the goal line on a twenty-one yard run at 6:25 and Miller scoring on a three yard run at 1:35. Mills was successful after both TDs and the Cats led 34-7 heading to the final quarter.

A twenty-four yard touchdown run by Brendan Zerfoss at 7:10, combined with Mills kick, set the final at 41-7 Cats.

Miller threw who threw for sixty-two yards also ran for fifty yards on three carries and had eight tackles and two pass deflections on defense. Weaver had two receptions for twenty-six yards and had an interception.Sam Minich also had an interception.

Zak Bauer and Colt Stimmell each had big games on both sides of the ball. Bauer had five pancake blocks on offense and ten tackles, four for loss, including two sacks. Stimmell had four pancakes, and nine tackles, including two sacks. Nick Porciello had twelve tackles, including two sacks. Thomas Wurster had two tackles for loss and Jacob Selker had an interception.

Manny McLean had sixty-two yards rushing for the Warriors and Wyatt Geibel and Nick Martino each had four receptions for forty yards apiece.

Clarion will travel to Redbank Valley, on Thursday night (October 5th), for an ALF game.
