JV Gridders Bulldogs, Gremlins, Junior High Downs Bulldogs (10/18/17)

The Clarion Junior Varsity Football Team won two games recently. On Monday, October 9th, the Bobcats defeated visiting Redbank Valley, 42-0 and on Monday, October 16th, they traveled to Karns City and came away with a 34-14 win. (We have no details on the win against the Gremlins.) The Junior High Gridders downed the visiting Bulldogs, 20-6, on Thursday, October 12th.

JV – Clarion vs Redbank Valley
The Bobcats jumped out to a 14-0 lead, in the first quarter. Running backCutter Boggess ran for a 30 yard touchdown at 6:00 and quarterback Archer Mills threw a 60 yard scoring strike to running back Sam Minich later in the frame. Mills kicked the PAT after both scores.

Minich and Boggess each scored again in the second quarter. Minich had a 60 yard run at 7:01 and Boggess ran it in from 5 yards out with fifty-seven seconds left. Mills was successful on both attempts, and the Cats led 28-0, at the half.

Boggess ran for a five yard touchdown with 3:22 left in the third and Colton Zacheral had a 12 yard scoring run with 4:59 left in the game.  Mills was good on both attempts. The final was set at 42-0.

Junior High – Clarion vs Redbank Valley

Quarterback Calvin German threw a 10 yard scoring pass to wide receiver wide receiver Ethan Burford, at 3:19 of the first quarter to give Clarion a 6-0 lead.

The Bobcats scored once in the second quarter, when Trevor Finefrock intercepted a screen pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown, at 5:29 of the second quarter and German threw to Burford for the two-point conversion, to up the Cats’ lead to 14-0.

 

 

 

Christian Simko recovered a fumble for Clarion, at 1:54.

Redbank scored with 1:27 left in the third on a 1 yard run by their quarterback. Simko intercepted the pass on the conversion attempt. The Bobcats now led 14-6.

German hit Burford with a 10 yard touchdown pass, with 4:58 left in the game. The conversion failed pushing Clarion’s lead to 20-6. German then intercepted a Redbank Valley pass, at the Clarion 3 yard line, to end a threat at 3:11.

The final – Clarion 20 – Redbank Valley 6.
