Basketball Round-up: Boys Down Moniteau, Lady Cats Fall To Lady Warriors (01/13/18)

The Clarion Area Basketball Teams played Moniteau this week, with the homestanding Bobcat Boys downing the Warriors 69-48, on Tuesday (January 9th) and the Lady Cats falling, in a close 69-66 decision, at West Sunbury on Wednesday (January 10th).

Bobcat Boys

The Cats led 14-6 after one period, 39-23 at the half and 47-35 after three. A big 22-13 edge in the fourth set the final.

Cam Craig had a big game, leading all scorers with twenty-eight points. Spencer Miller had 15 points and Austin Hummell scored nine.

The Warriors were led by Tyler McFadden’s 13 points and Ross Tenney’s twelve.

The Cats are now 6-4 on the season.

Lady Cats

The Lady Cats led 14-12 after one, but the Lady Warriors had a 19-11, edge in the second quarter, to take a 31-25 lead into halftime. With a 20-17 Clarion advantage, in the third, the Warriors led 48-45 heading to the final stanza. Both teams put up twenty-one points in the fourth.

Wendy Beveridge and Kate Constantino led the Cats with twenty-three points apiece and both were successful from downtown, with Wendy hitting 5 treys and Kate putting in four 3-pointers. K. K. Girvan also hit double figures, with thirteen points.

Kristin Auvil led Moniteau with 25 points and Izzy Bair followed with twenty-four.

Friday’s games were postponed.

The Clarion Boys and Girls teams will host Redbank Valley in a double header on Wednesday (January 17th). Both JV contests start at 5:00PM, the Varsity Girls play at 6:30 and the the Varsity Boys start at 8:00. Then on Friday (January 19th), the Bobcats and Lady Cats travel to Union for a double header.
