Basketball: Lady Cats Go 2 And 1 On Week (02/10/18)

The Clarion Area Girls Basketball Team played three games this week. On Monday (February 5th) the Lady Cats downed the visiting Union Golden Damsels 62-52, in a KSAC crossover game.

UNION AT CLARION AREA

The Lady Cats moved to 8-12, behind Kate Constantino’s twenty-five points. Constantino went 11 for 12 from the foul line.

Wendy Beveridge scored 14 points, blocked 6 shots and pulled down six rebounds. Sadie Rudesyle followed with nine points. K. K. Girvan had 6 points, Cassie Acey scored 4 and Ali Troese scored two.

The Bobcats led 12-6 after the first period, 27-17 at the half and 38-33 after three. Both teams had a big final quarter, with Clarion having the edge at 24-19.

Frankee Remmick had a big night for Union, with 26 points and fifteen rebounds. Bryn Davis followed with thirteen.

CLARION AREA AT FOREST AREA

On Friday (February 9th), the Lady Cats traveled to Marienville and came away with a 56-33 win over the Forest Area Flames, to move to 9-12 (5-2 KSAC North) on the season.

Wendy Beveridge and Kate Constantino combined for forty-six points in the win. Beveridge led all scorers with 25 points, including seven buckets from three point land, while Constantino followed with twenty-one.  Beveridge also had five blocked shots. Ali Troese had Two points. Cassie Acey and Jenna Miller each bucketed a free throw.

Sadie Rudesyle had 6 points and twelve rebounds.

Clarion led 16-3 after the first period, 26-11 at the half and 34-25 after three.

The Flames were led by Bianca Hetrics’s fifteen points.

NORTH CLARION AT CLARION AREA

Clarion fell to visiting North Clarion 58-43mon Saturday (February 10th).

Kate Constantino led the Cats in scoring with fourteen points. She also had 3 assists and six steals. Wendy Beveridge had a solid all-around game, scoring 13 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, dishing out 2 assists, blocking 5 shots and getting a steal.

Sadie Rudesyle scored five points. Five girls contributed 2 points apiece: Cassie Acey, Ali Troese, K. K. Girvan, Ava Cherico and Hannah Hazlett. Troese also had 5 rebounds, 2 assists, a blocked shot and a steal.

The Lady Wolves led 17-7 after one, 30-20 at the half and 44-29 after three.

Tori Obenrader led North Clarion with twenty-eight points. Abby Gatesman contributed twelve points.
