On June 30th local grappler, Haven LeFay, traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the American National Kids IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship. The International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) hosts several of the biggest Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) tournaments in the world.

While at Nationals, Haven, age 14, was able to take second place in the highest ranking and heaviest youth division at the tournament! Haven lost in the finals by a score of 4 – 2 to the first place winner, Zachary Avina of California. Third place went to King Sinsarady of Nevada.

Our local gym, Clarion MMA is part of the international grappling team, Zenith BJJ.  During the month of August Haven will return to Las Vegas to attend a training camp at the Zenith flagship gym, Drysdale Jiu-Jitsu. Here he will train alongside many world champions, under the supervision of renowned grappling star and former UFC fighter, Robert Drysdale.

The training camp will lead up to Haven’s next challenge, also in Las Vegas, the Kids International IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship on August 25th.
