Clarion Varsity Volleyball Report: Sept. 10-13 (09/17/2018)

(By CSZ Sports Writer Kenn Staub)  Last week the Bobcat volleyball team, ranked fifth in the state by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association, played two matches, taking on Karns City at home Tuesday and then traveling to North Clarion on Thursday. It was a good week for the team, as the young ladies in orange and black took both matches without dropping a set.

Tuesday, Sept. 11: Karns City vs. Clarion (Home)

Dorothy Kalinowski

The Bobcats took down the Gremlins in straight sets, 25-10, 25-14, and 25-18. Brenna Campbell and Kaitlyn Constantino each scored 12 from the service line, with five aces apiece. Korrin Burns (2 aces) had five points and Jordan Best four. Dorothy Kalinowski led the Bobcats with seven kills, while Burns, Maddie Schill, and Hailey Sintobin all slammed down five. Constantino chipped in four. Campbell had 24 assists.

Defensively, KK Girvan scooped up 10 digs. Campbell hit the floor for eight and Constantino five. Kalinowski had a solo block and an assist. Lexi Lauer assisted on a block.

Thursday, Sept. 13: Clarion vs. North Clarion (Away)

Simply stated, Clarion put in a dominant performance against North Clarion, beating the Wolves 25-10, 25-9, and 25-3. Brenna Campbell served for 24 points (five aces), with Kaitlyn Constantino adding 14 (six aces) and KK Girvan 11 (2 aces) from the line. Constantino, Maddie Schill, and Dorothy Kalinowski played strong at the net, coming away with six kills apiece. Korrin Burns and Hailey Sintobin both had three. Campbell provided 21 assists.

Schill and KK Girvan had four digs. Kalinowski blocked a shot.

The Week Ahead

Clarion has a busy week ahead. The squad starts things off by traveling to take on the second ranked Class A team in the state, Northern Cambria, on Monday, Sept. 17. The trip the next day (Tuesday, Sept. 18) is much shorter, as the team heads to Clarion-Limestone for a date with the Lions. Keystone visits Clarion for a match on Thursday, Sept. 20 and the Bobcats host a tournament on Saturday, Sept. 22.
