JV Volleyball Team Reaches Semifinals In Home Tournament (09/18/2018)

(By CSZ Sports Writer Kenn Staub)  The JV volleyball team hosted a tournament in the high school gymnasium on Saturday, Sept. 15. After going 6-2 in pool play, the team in orange and black dispatched Elk County Catholic in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual tournament champion Altoona in a semifinal match-up.

Payton Simko led the Bobcats at the service line, collecting 39 points (12 aces). She was followed by Noel Anthony with 25 points (12 aces), Bella Klein with 20 (nine aces), Jordan Best with 17 (eight aces), and Ava Kiser (six aces) and Abbie Slagle (three aces) with 10 each. Best paced the Bobcats offense at the net with 18 kills. Simko slammed down 17 kills and Brennah Coppenhaver eight. Anthony had 41 assists.

Not only did Simko have a stout game offensively, but she also contributed 20 digs and two blocks. Ava Kiser came up with 14 digs and Best 13. Gabby Klein blocked two shots, while Coppenhaver and Kaylee Hiles had one apiece.
