Three Bobcat Golfers Qualify For Districts (09/20/2018)

(By CSZ Sports Writer Kenn Staub)  On Wednesday, Sept. 19 it was announced that three Clarion golfers, Josh Craig, Jackson Fox, and Lake Staub, had qualified for the District 9 Class A tournament scheduled to begin play at Pinecrest Country Club (Brookville) on Monday, Sept. 24

Craig, a junior, currently sports a 43.50 scoring average. The two-time all-conference competitor won the opening megamatch of the season, played at the Foxburg Country Club (Aug. 22). Since then, he has earned top 10 status in five of seven matches, including seconds at Cross Creek Resort in Titusville (Aug 28) and Wanango Country Club (Sept. 11) and a third at Clarion Oaks Golf Course (Aug. 23).

Fox, a sophomore, won the second event of the season, capturing medalist honors at Clarion Oaks. He has finished in the top ten at five of the other seven events, including third at Wanango and fourths at Hunter Station Golf Club in Tionesta (Aug. 30) and Foxburg (Sept. 18). He is currently in possession of a 45.13 scoring average.

Staub, a sophomore, has a 46.13 scoring average. He earned top 10 finishes in six of eight events, including fourths at both Clarion Oaks’ events (Aug. 23 and Sept. 4) and a fifth at Hi-Level Golf Course in Kossuth (Sept. 13).
