Three Bobcats Named District Nine League All-Stars, Nick Porciello, Sam Minich, Archer Mills Named To First-Ever Squad (11/09/18)
The District Nine Football League, which recently completed their first regular season, has announced their 2018 All-Star Team. Named to the first-ever Large School Division Squad were three Clarion Area Bobcats, Nick Porciello, Sam Minich and Archer Mills.
Each of the three Clarion Area representatives were named to two positions. Nick was selected on the offensive interior line and as a defensive line/end. Sam was named as a running back/slot back and linebacker. Archer was named as a place kicker and safety
Nick was stellar on both sides of the ball, in a season shortened by injury. He had 54 tackles (34 solo), 6 tackles for loss (including 3 sacks), an interception, a fumble caused, a fumble recovery and a blocked field goal.
Sam had 503 rushing yards on 53 carries (9.5 yards per carry) and five touchdowns. He had 49 receptions for 775 yards (15.8 yards per catch) and 12 touchdowns. His 775 receiving yards places him second on the Bobcats’ All-Time Single Season Receiving Yardage List, behind only Cody Hearst.
Archer handled kickoffs and other place kicking duties for the Cats. His kickoffs often gave the opponents poor field position, to start their possessions. He was 28-for-30 in extra point tries and had a 25 yard field goal. He had 93 tackles (63 solo), 3 interceptions, a fumble recovery and caused a pair of fumbles.
Though he wasn’t named on offense, Archer put up some fine numbers at quarterback and receiver. He was 96-for-157 (.611 completion percentage), for 1260 yards, with 15 touchdowns. he ran for 201 yards, on 37 carries and caught 7 passes for 40 yards.
Archer’s 1260 passing yards place him fourth All-Time on the Bobcats’ Single Season Passing Yardage List.
As mentioned earlier, these three fine athletes, Nick, Logan and Archer are part of the First Ever District Nine League All-Stars. And Nick and Archer have another distinction, as they are also part of the Last Ever Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference (KSAC) All-Conference Team, receiving that honor in 2017.
Congratulations to these three Bobcat seniors and all those named to the 2018 District Nine League All-Stars!!!!
