Bobcat Wrestlers Compete In District Nine Class AA Tourney, Tyler Van Tassel Moves On To Regionals (02/25/19)

The Clarion Bobcat Wrestling Team competed at the District Nine Class AA Tournament, at Clearfield High School, last Friday and Saturday (February 22nd and 23rd).

Tyler Van Tassel will be advancing to the Northwest Regional Class AA Tournament this coming Friday and Saturday (March 1st and 2nd) at Sharon High School, by virtue of his fourth place finish at 195.

Tyler went 4-2 for the tournament. He won by fall over Jake Davidson of Scheffield in the preliminary round. And after falling 8-0 to Port Allegany’s Justin Young in the quarterfinals, he reeled off three straight wins.

He defeated Gage Roos of Curwensville 4-0 in the second round consolations, won by fall over Matt Burger of Johnsonburg in the consolation quarterfinals and then defeated Aiden Gardner of Redbank Valley 2-1. He fell to Elijah Ayers of Coudersport 6-0 in the match for third place.

Several other Bobcats recorded wins in the District match.

Cutter Boggess went 2-2. He downed Isaak Baumgarner of Port Allegany 8-2, in his preliminary match at 152 and then pinned Linkin Nichols of Brockway, in the quarterfinals. He lost by fall in his semifinal match with Aiden Hulings of Kane and fell in a one point 5-4 decision to Jacob Cable of Brookville in the consolation semis.

Logan Dehner was 1-2. He won by fall over Zane Moligrino of Oswayo Valley in the 120 pound quarter finals. He then fell to Port Allegany’s Braedon Johnson 8-2 in the semis and 4-2 to Dom Inzana of Brockway, in the consolation semis.

Zack Kellerman was also 1-2. He lost by fall to Shawn Nystrom of Kane in the quarterfinals and bounced back with a pin over Nick Carinci of Port Allegany in the consolation quarterfinals. He lost by fall to Sheffield’s Nick Knowles in the consolation semifinals.

Also competing for the Bobcats were Colton Zacherl at 132, Donovan Edmonds at 160 and Peyton Means at 170.
