Leap Of Faith Has Fine Showing At Toon Town Gymnastics Invite (02/07/19)

(Submitted by Patty Lewis)

Leap of Faith Gymnastics of Clarion Team levels Xcel Bronze, Silver & Gold competed at the Toon Town Invitational at the Butler Gymnastics Club on January 11 & 12, 2019. Top three winners received a “toon” trophy: Mickey for first, Dalmation for second and Pooh for third. All other podium winners 4th – 8th place received a medal. First place winners were Jorja Parkinson (Xcel Silver, Vault 8.95, Bars 9.60, Beam 9.45, Floor 9.35, AA 37.35) and Skyler Harriger (Xcel Bronze, Floor 9.20).

Leap of Faith Gymnastics competes Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, which demonstrates each individual gymnast’s strength, balance, flexibility, poise, power, perfection and control. All scores are out of a total of 10.00 possible points each event, 10.00 being text-book perfect. Routines begin at a 10.00 and incur deductions, however some routines may start at a 9.50 start value if not all requirements are met, or a requirement was not performed in full, resulting in a lower score.

Lilleigh Harmon and Claire Henry are the most recent to become eligible to compete at the USAG State meet in May, scoring 34.025 and 34.20, respectively at the Toon Town Meet. Those who have qualified to compete at the state level in May by scoring at least a 34.00 All Around at a meet this season also include, Jorja Parkinson (37.35), Noelle Reitz (36.10), Malia Wilson (36.225), and Shadow Young (35.35). The All-Around score needed to qualify to compete at Regionals at the end of May is a 34.50, and has been achieved by Jorja Parkinson, Noelle Reitz, Malia Wilson and Shadow Young. Unfortunately, Pennsylvania does not host an Xcel Bronze meet at the state level nor a regional meet.

On the Xcel Bronze Team, Skyler Harriger and Callie Lutz competed in the 7 and under age group, Cheyenne Harriger competed in the 9-year old age group.  On the Xcel Silver Team, Jorja Parkinson, Malia Wilson and Noelle Reitz competed in the 9 and under age group, Jadyn Truax and Shadow Young both competed in the 10 & 11-year old age group.  On the Gold Team, Lilleigh Harmon competed in the 11 & under age group, Laci Campbell competed in the 12-year old age group, and Claire Henry competed in the 13 and over age group.

The Silver Team placed 3rd with a combined score of 110.025 and the Bronze Team placed 4th with a 102.325.
