Basketball Roundup: Lady Cats Go 1-1, Bobcat Boys Go 1-2 Last Week (02/10/19)

Girls:

The Clarion Area Girls Basketball Team went 1-1 last week, dropping a 46-33 decision to homestanding North Clarion on Tuesday (February 5th) and defeating visiting Redbank Valley 38-28 on Thursday (February 7th).

Wendy Beveridge led the Lady Cats in Monday’s game against the She-Wolves, with 11 points.

North Clarion led 13-9 after one, 23-14 at the half and 35-23 after three.

North Clarion, which clinched their fourth straight KSAC North title, were led by Abby Gatesman’s 14 points.

K. K. Girvan led the way in the Lady Cats’ win over Redbank Valley, with 14 points. Kait Constantino chipped in eleven.

Clarion led 5-2 after one and 16-5 at halftime. Redbank came back with a 15-6 third quarter advantage to trail by two 22-20 after three, but a 16-8 Clarion edge in the fourth sealed the 38-28 win.

Boys:

Clarion dropped a 64-50 decision to homestanding Karns City on Monday (February 4th) and then fell to visiting North Clarion 68-54 on Wednesday (February 6th). The visiting Bobcats came back with a 91-54 win over Forest Area on Friday (February 8th).

Cal German led Clarion in the loss to the Gremlins on Monday, with 14 points. Jake Burns followed with 12 and Nick Frederick added nine.

The game was tied at 17-all after one. KC led 33-25 at the half and 50-35 after three.

Ben Gillespie led Karns City with 24 points.

German led the Cats, with 18 points in Wednesday’s home loss to North Clarion. Gavin Brinkley followed with 12 and Tijon Faulk-Taylor chipped in with nine.

The Wolves led 20-11 after the first, 31-18 at the half and 46-39 after three.

North Clarion was led by Logan Minich with 22 and Kyle Mills with sixteen.

Friday’s 91-57 home win against Forest Area was fueled by German’s 21 points and Frederick’s 18 and Brinkley’s thirteen.

Noah Burk led the Fires with twenty.
