Lady Cats Win D9 Class 2A Consolation Game, Advance To States (03/02/19)

The Clarion Area Lady Cats Basketball Team downed Keystone 51-37, in the District Nine Class 2A consolation game, on Thursday (February 28th), to earn a berth in the PIAA State Playoffs.

The Cats led wire to wire. They held a 13-9 lead after one and with a 15-8 advantage in the second, they took a 28-15 edge into halftime. The Lady Panthers had a 10-9 edge in the third and Clarion led 37-25 going to the final stanza. A 14-12 Clarion advantage in the fourth set the final.

Kait Constantino led Clarion with 13 points and Wendy Beveridge followed with eleven. Wendy also had seven rebounds.

Jordan Best and K. K. Girvan chipped in with 8 apiece and Ali Troese had seven. Jordan had 8 rebounds and Ali had seven.

Emily Lauer had 15 points for the Panthers.

The Lady Cats take a 17-8 record into the State playoffs. The brackets are still to be set.
