Lady Cats Softball Team 2-0 This Week (04/19/19)

The Clarion Area Lady Cats went 2-0 this week, with wins over Punxsutawney and Clarion-Limestone.

On Tuesday (April 16th) the Lady Cats traveled to Punxsutawney to face the defending Class 4A State Champs and came away with a 4-3 win.

Clarion scored a run in the top of the second and another three runs in the third, for a 4-0 lead. This would be all the Lady Cats would score, but it would prove to be enough, as the Lady Chucks managed two runs in the bottom of the fourth and another in the bottom of the seventh, setting the 4-3 final and Clarion victory.

Kait Constantino had the complete game victory, throwing eight strikeouts while scattering four hits.

Jordan Best led the Lady Cats at the plate, with two of the team’s seven hits, including a double, and an RBI. She also scored a run. Constantino had two hits and scored once. Carly Best singled and drove in a run. Tori Vega doubled, drove in a run and scored once. Lindsey Kemmer singled and drove in a run.

On Wednesday (April 17th) the Lady Cats defeated the Lady Lions 3-0. Constantino again went the distance, with twelve strikeouts, giving up just four hits, without issuing a walk.

Clarion scored two runs,in the bottom of the first and another in the fifth.

Constantino was three-for-three at the plate, including a double. She drove in a run and scored once. Carly Best singled, drove in a run and scored a run.

Noel Anthony tripled. Vega and Jordan Best each had an BBI and Mackenzie Aaron scored a run.

The Lady Cats are now 6-2 and are scheduled to host Forest Area, next Tuesday (April 23rd), at 4:30.
