Softball Roundup: Lady Cats Down Forest Area, Fall To Moniteau (04/27/19)

The Clarion Area Lady Cats Softball Team had two games this week. On Monday (April 23rd), they downed visiting Forest Area 16-1, in four innings, and fell to the Moniteau Lady Warriors, 18-8, in five innings on Thursday (April 25th).

Clarion – Forest Area Game:

Neither team scored in the first inning, but the Lady Cats plated seven runs in the bottom of the second and four more in the third, to take an 11-0 lead. the Fires scored their lone run in the top of the fourth, but the Cats answered with five of their own in the bottom of the inning to set the final.

Sisters Carly and Jordan Best both had big days at the plate. Carly Best had three hits, including two inside the park home runs. She had four runs batted in and scored three runs. Jordan Best singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored once.

Ava Kiser singled, had three RBIs and scored a run. Kait Constantino tripled, drove in a run and crossed the plate once. Payton Simko singled and scored three runs. Tori Vega had a hit and scored twice, while Lindsey Kemmer had a single and an RBI.

Brenna Campbell scored a pair of runs, while Mackenzie Aaron and Noel Anthony each scored a run.

Constantino went three innings, in the circle, throwing six strikeouts Simko finished out the game with two more strikeouts.

Catelynne Boehme led Forest Area with a double and a run scored.

Clarion – Moniteau Game:

Moniteau scored ten runs in the bottom of the first inning and three more in the second, to take a 13-0 lead. The Cats put five runs across in the top of the third, cutting the deficit to eight runs at 13-5, Moniteau. The Warriors scored three in the bottom of the fourth. The Lady Cats answered with three of their own in the top of the fifth, making the score 16-8, Moniteau. . The Warriors pushed two more across in the bottom of the inning, to end the game.

Vega had a pair of hits, including a double, with three RBIs and two runs scored. Jordan Best singled and drove in a pair of runs.

Simko and Kiser each added a hit, and Carly Best, Constantino, Campbell and Kemmer each scored a run.

Dolcey Shunk had two hits, including a double and drove in five runs, while Amanda Dailey had four hits, including a double and scored three runs for Moniteau.

The Lady Cats will host Keystone on Monday (April 29th).
