Clarion Little League 12-U All-Stars Down Oil City, Next Game On Tuesday (06/30/19)

The Clarion Little League 12-U All-Stars downed Oil City on Saturday (June 30th) in District 25 Baseball action.

Manager Lee Weber shared this summary:

We won 9-3 over Oil City and now must wait until the winner of the losers’ bracket is decided.  We would play them on Tuesday at Clarion 7:30 PM.

Matt Alston started on the mound and pitch 4 2/3 strong innings and gave up only 5 hits, 3 walks and 9strikeouts!  He has been a workhorse for us this past week!  Jimmy Kerr also has been doing a fine job, doing the clean up job!  He pitched 1 1/3 inning and had 2k’s and gave up 1 hit.

It was 0-0 after 1 inning.  Then in the top of the 2nd after 2 strikeouts, Braylon Beckwith smashed a high fastball to left field for a single.  Brady Pierce followed with a walk then Jesse Siwiecki lined a double for 1 of his 4 RBIs.  With men on second and third, Hayden Weber ripped a hard single up the middle for 2 RBIs putting Clarion up 3-0.  In the bottom of the third after 2 strikeouts, Oil City’s leadoff hitter hit a double to the top of the fence that bounced back in.  The next hitter bounced a Texas Leaguer over third base driving in their first run to make the score 3-1.

Both teams were scoreless in the fourth.  The rest of the scoring for both teams was done in the fifth inning.  Aiden Coulson started out with a base on balls, but the next two batters hit into fielder’s choices for two force outs.  Lucas Mitrosky was up next and got aboard after being hit by a pitch and Jimmer Kerr earned a walk to load the bases.  Brady Pierce blooped a hit over the pitcher to drive in a run.  Next, Jesse Siwiecki drove a deep shot over the center fielder to drive in 3 more runs to give us a 7-1 lead.

Weber walked and stole second.  Alston came up and on a 1-2 count, hit a shot over the right fielder’s head for two more runs to make the score 9-1.  Oil City added two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but Kerr came in and shut them down the rest of the way.

Riley Rinker had a nice line drive to second and scored as a special pinch runner.  Jayden Siwiecki and Coulson each made outstanding catches in the bottom of the sixth to close the game (Thanks to Coach Weber for this summary. Keep up the great work, Clarion!!!!)
