(By Scott DiTullio, Potter Summer Baseball Tour Director)

The Potter Baseball Summer Tour returns to Clarion on Monday, July 15th. July 15th will mark day 17 of the 33 day tour.

What is the Potter Baseball Tour? Coach Jeff Potter puts a team together of 24 boy’s to do a summer tour for 33 days on the road doing community service and baseball. The basic idea is learning from life lessons and giving back – based upon four tenants: RESPECT, HARD WORK, SELFLESSNESS, AND PASSION.  Please check out coaches website: jeffpotterbaseball.com

2017 Clinic

The players will be meeting with Mr. Keith Murtha, who will talk to them about health and fitness, as well as his time with the Buffalo Bills and the Florida Marlins.

After the time with Mr. Murtha, the team will then be doing community service at Paul A. Weaver Park. As the tour has continued to evolve for the past ten years, community service and giving back to communities is the top priority.  Giving back to the community will be done with work at Paul A. Weaver Park, followed by a homerun derby and a baseball clinic.

The home run derby registration will take place from 2:00-3:00 PM and will start at 3:00PM, with prizes being offered for the top home run hitters in their age groups.

The evening will conclude with an old fashioned baseball game at 7:00 with several local players and the Potter Pirates.

We hope that the Clarion Community can come out and see what the Potter Pirates Summer Tour is all about. Come out and enjoy the entire day or just parts of it. Talk to the boys, jump in and lend a helping hand, or just observe what they do. There is so much more to the Potter Baseball Summer tour than you can ever imagine.

As part of the Potter Baseball family we are excited to be participating on the tour for the third year. Our local players consist of:  Lee Beary from Oil City and Noah DiTullio from Clarion.

All proceeds form the day will go towards the Clarion County Inclusive Playground.

Please pass it on to everyone that you know that would be interested in attending.

I hope that Clarion and surrounding communities will come out to support this great opportunity.
