Former Clarion Bobcat Tanner Klein had a big game, at the plate and on the mound for the Roswell (New Mexico) Invaders, in their 10-6 win last night (Tuesday, July 30th), over the visiting White Sands (New Mexico) Pupfish, in Pecos League play. The Pecos League is an independent professional minor league.
Tanner went 3-for-4, just missing hitting for the cycle, with a single, double and triple. He drove in five runs and scored once. The Invaders list Tanner’s season average at a fine .321.
In seven innings of work on the mound, Tanner struck out a career high 10 batters, giving up just two earned runs. He has been pretty solid, when given the ball. On the season, Tanner has seen pitching duties in 17 games, seven as the starter, with 62.2 innings pitched. He is 3-1 with 1 save. Tanner has thrown 60 strikeouts while walking thirty-four. He has allowed 50 hits and given up thirty earned runs.
The Invaders and Pupfish will finish out the series and regular season with games tonight through Saturday (July 31st-August 3rd). Then the Invaders, the number three seed in the Mountain Division standings, will begin the playoffs with a best of three series against the number two seed Garden City (Kansas) Wind on Monday (August 5th).
The winner of that series will face the number one seed Alpine (Texas) Cowboys for the Division championship, with the winner of that series facing the Pacific Division champion for the Pecos League title.
(Thanks to Brad Winters for the photos. Congratulations Tanner and the rest of the Invaders!!!!)
