Three Clarion Area Golfers have qualified for the 2020 District Nine Golf Championships, with the Boys Tournament taking place this week and The Girls Tournament taking place next week.

Jackson Fox, Devon Lauer and McKayla Kerle, all members of the Clarion Boys Team which captured the KSAC Championship last week have all qualified. Jackson placed third in the KSAC for the season, Devon placed sixth and McKayla finished eighth.

Jackson and Devon will play in the Boys Championship Tournament, which will be held at Bavarian Hills Golf Course in St. Marys.

McKayla, who also competed in KSAC Girls Golf, will play in the Girls Tournament. She finished second in last year’s District Tournament, carding a 95.

The Boys Tournament will be a two day event held Monday and Saturday. The golfers will play 18 holes on Monday (September 28th), which will determine the team champion, with the team with the best four-man total, getting a bid to the State Tournament at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York, on Wednesday, October 26th. Clarion is not competing in the team competition. Clarion-Limestone will compete though, led by KSAC Medalist and last year’s District Class-AA Champion Hayden Siegel.

Monday’s top twelve golfers in Class-AA will advance to a second round on Saturday (October 3rd), with the top five from that round, advancing to States. Class-AAA will have a different set-up.

The Girls Tournament, will be a one day affair, taking place at Punxsutawney Country Club on Monday, October 5th. All the details are not worked out yet, but the top three Class-AA finishers, provided their scores are under 100 will advance to States. The Girls Tournament will also be at York and will be played on Tuesday, October 19th.
