The Clarion Area Lady Cats have moved into the 2020 American Volleyball Association (AVCA)/USA Today High School Regional Rankings. The Week 9 rankings, which were released by USA Today on Thursday (October 29th), have Clarion in 9th place in Region 2, which consists of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia and Delaware. There are ten regions throughout the United States, covering from Main to Florida, to Alaska to Hawaii.

Coach Shari Campbell shared her pride in her Lady Cats Volleyball Team, “(I’m) Proud of this team. If you ever need an example of unwavering perseverance and positivity, here it is! This team is going after their goals and are willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen.”

All of the schools in the Week 9 Standings for Region 2 are from Pennsylvania. For some perspective on how big this is for the Lady Cats, consider that Clarion Area, currently undefeated at 18-0 and ranked number 1 in Class-A (the smallest classification) by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (PVCA), is the only school in The Region 2 standings, not in Class-AAA or AAAA (Pennsylvania’s two largest classifications).

The number one ranked team is North Allegheny, the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (PVCA) Number 1 Class-AAAA team. The (12-0) Lady Tigers are also Number 24 in the latest AVCA/USA Today Super 25 National rankings.
