Lady Cats Volleyball Team Downs Corry And General McLane, Each In Straight Sets (Posted 10/17/20)

The Clarion Area Lady Cats Volleyball Team traveled to Corry today (Saturday, October 17th), to face both the Corry Lady Beavers and General McLane Lady Lancers, coming away with thee set victories against each.

The first match saw the Lady Cats defeating the Lady Lancers 25-9, 25-12 and 25-11.

Brenna Campbell had a strong performance, with 13 points, 24 assists, a kill and a pair of digs. Erica Selfridge had 12 points (2 aces), 6 kills and ten digs.

Jordan Best scored 10 points (4 aces), to go along with 7 digs and an assist. Korrin Burns had 16 kills, 9 points (3 aces) and five digs.

Payton Simko scored 3 points, and had a pair of kills and a dig. Aryana Girvan registered 5 kills, 1 point and two digs. Adia Needham recorded a kill and a dig, while Noel Anthony contributed an assist and a dig.

The Clarion Junior Varsity won a tight match with General McLane, coming away with a three set win, 25-14, 21-25, 15-13.

In the second match, the Lady Cat Varsity downed the host Lady Beavers 25-16, 25-15, 25-22.

Aryana Girvan had a huge match, scoring 15 points (1 ace), while also recording 6 kills and six digs.

Korrin Burns had 6 points (1 ace) 20 kills and eight digs. Brenna Campbell dished out 39 assists, while also collecting 5 points (1 ace), six digs and a kill.

Erica Selfridge registered 16 kills, 13 digs and 3 points (1 ace). Jordan Best contributed 6 points (2 aces) and twelve kills. Payton Simko had 4 points (2 aces) and a kill.

The Lady Cat Junior Varsity won their match in straight sets, 25-14, 25-18.

Clarion will host Union on Tuesday (October 20th). The Lady Cats will have their Senior Night Celebration prior to the match.

Clarion Area Coach Shari Campbell shared, “We played with a lot of drive today. It was great to see us competing against some great programs. I am sure that the team would agree that the positive enthusiasm that they brought to the court felt great. 

“I am so very proud of this team and the entire program. So much work and sacrifice has gone into getting to this point.

“We are just looking forward to each moment that lies ahead.”
