Cal German, Ethan Burford, Cutter Boggess, Beau Verdill Named To 2020 Pennsylvania Football News All-State Class-AA Team

Four Central Clarion Wildcats Seniors have achieved a great honor, in being selected to the 2020 Pennsylvania Football News (PFN) Class-AA All-State Team. This is another of historic program firsts, as these young men, Cal German, Ethan Burford, Cutter Boggess and Beau Verdill will forever be etched in Wildcats’ history as the first to be named All-State.
Cal, Ethan and Cutter were named to the First Team and Beau was selected on the Second Team. Cal was selected at quarterback,Ethan at wide receiver, Cutter as a defensive athlete and Beau as a punter.
What remarkable careers these young men had.
This past season, Cal threw for 1884 yards, with 22 touchdowns and only 8 interceptions. He averaged 269.1 passing yards per game. For his career, Cal through for 4556 yards and 61 touchdowns and only 19 interceptions. He is the All-Time leader among Clarion Area student/athletes in single season passing yardage (2349 in 2019 as a Bobcat) and career passing yardage (4556 combined as a Bobcat and Wildcat).
Ethan had 37 catches for 809 yards and 10 touchdowns, for the Wildcats in 2020. Ethan is the All-Time leader in receiving yardage (2277), touchdowns (33) and receptions (95) among Clarion Area athletes. The totals are for his seasons as a Bobcat and Wildcat. Ethan’s 17 touchdowns in 2019 are the Clarion Area single season record.
Cutter was second in tackles on the team, with 63 including 45 solo, 3 sacks, 1 interception and 1 caused fumble, for the Wildcats in 2020. As a Bobcat, from 2017-19, Cutter registered 178 tackles (71 solo), 12 tackles for loss, 6 passes defended, 8 hurries, 1 fumble caused and 1 fumble recovered.
Beau averaged 35.5 yards per punt, with three pinning the opponent inside their own twenty 11 punts, 35.5 average, three inside opponents 20 yard line, this season. In 2019 he had 11 punts for 467 yards, a 37.4 yard average. Beau was also the Bobcats and Wildcats placekicker. Some of his combined Bobcats/Wildcats totals include: 69 points after touchdown, 4 field goals and 18 kickoffs going for touch backs.
