Basketball: Bobcats And Lady Cats Fall In Thursday’s Games

The Clarion Area Bobcat Boys and Lady Cats both fell in non-conference, away basketball games on Thursday (February 25th).

Boys Game: DuBois Central Catholic 65 – Clarion 64

The Bobcats fell in a squeaker to the Cardinals, with Cal German draining a three-pointer with 1.5 seconds left in the game for a 65-62 lead, only to be matched by DuBois’ Harrison Starr’s three-point buzzer beater.

The score was tied 14-all after one. With a 17-16 advantage in the second, the Cats led 31-30 at the half and with a 17-8 advantage in the third, Clarion was up by ten, 48-38 headed to the final stanza. A 27-16 Cardinals’ edge in the fourth set the final.

German led the Bobcats with a game-high twenty-five points. Beau Verdill and Hunter Craddock also scored in double-figures, with 16 and fourteen points respectively. Christian Simko and Ethan Burford scored five points each.

Alec Srock led the Cardinals with twenty points.

The Bobcats are scheduled to visit Warren tonight (Friday, February 26th) and Forest Area tomorrow (Saturday, February 27th).

Girls Game: Warren 33 – Clarion 26

The Lady Cats led 14-4 after one and 16-14 at the half. With a 13-8 third quarter advantage, the Lady Dragons led 27-24 after three. A 6-2 Warren edge in the fourth set the final.

Jordan Best led Clarion with seven points. Payton Simko followed with 5 points, while Erica Selfridge and Ava Cherico scored four points each.

Emma Ruhlman led Warren with thirteen points.

The Lady Cats are scheduled to visit Punxsutawney, tomorrow (Saturday, February 27th).
