Basketball Roundup: Lady Cats And Bobcat Boys Victorious

Girls: Clarion 42 – DuBois 37

The Clarion Area Lady Cats downed the visiting DuBois Lady Beavers, 42-37, in non-conference basketball action on Thursday (February 18th).

Erica Selfridge led the Lady Cats with 15 points, with 13 points coming from the free-throw line. Erica was 13-for-15 from the charity stripe. including 9-of-10 in the second period, where she scored all of the Clarion’s points.

Jordan Best followed with 11 points, with nine points, including7 free-throws in the fourth. Ava Cherico had 8 points, including a pair of threes. Rebekah Ketner also contributed six points.

DuBois led 10-5, after one, but with a 12-5 Clarion edge in the second, the Cats had a two-point, 17-15 halftime lead. The Beavers outscored Clarion 12-9 in the third for a 27-26 lead at the three-quarter mark, but a 16-10 Clarion advantage in the fourth set the final.

The Lady Cats are scheduled to host Redbank Valley on Wednesday (February 24th).

Boys: Clarion 79 – Cranberry 24

The homestanding Bobcat boys defeated the Cranberry Berries, 79-24, on Wednesday (February 17th), on Senior Night.

Four Bobcats reached double figures, led by Cal German’s game-high twenty-five. Hunter Craddock followed with 15, Christian Simko had 13 points and Beau Verdill had ten points.

Hunter pulled down 16 rebounds, while Beau had 8 boards, 6 assists and seven steals.

Ethan Burford scored 6 points for the Cats, Dawson Smail had four, and Dauntae Girvan, Ryan Alston and Ezra Brooks each scored two points.

The Bobcats led 29-6 after one, 50-10 at the half and 69-14 after three.

Noel Bunyak had eight points to lead the Berries.

The Bobcats are scheduled to play at Redbank Valley this evening (Friday, February 19th) and at Brockway on Saturday (February, 20th) with the tip-off scheduled for 11:00AM.
