Cutter Boggess Finishes 3rd In District Nine Class-AA Wrestling Championships, Bobcats Finish 10th
The Clarion Bobcat Wrestlers finished in 10th place, in the District Nine Class-AA Wrestling Championships at Clearfield on Saturday (February 20th).

Cutter Boggess qualified for Regionals! Cutter started slow against Jacob Kuney from Cranberry, but took control in the 3rd while leading 5-1 by pinning his opponent 25 seconds into the 3rd. In the semis, Cutter had great shots against Jackson Zimmerman, from Brookville but could not finish for the takedowns. After a third attempt, Zimmerman was able to get around Cutter and locked up a tight cradle for a fall.
Cutter was disappointed after the loss but shook it off and came back strong! In his next match against Johnsonburg’s Cole Haight, Cutter took control 7-1 and dominated with a fall in the 2nd period.
In the consolation finals to qualify for Regionals, Cutter took a 6-3 lead in the 3rd, against Isaak Baumgarner of Port Allegany. Around the last 30 seconds, there was a scramble situation for a takedown and Cutter ended up on top and got the pin with 14 seconds left on the match!
Caleb Edmonds had a strong day of wrestling by going 2-2. He started out by upsetting the 5th seed 5-2 by using a Peterson in the 3rd period. Caleb lost a tough battle to the 4th seed in a 4-2 contest. In the 1st round of consolations Caleb pinned Noah Anderson from Redbank Valley, with a low leg cradle. Caleb then lost to the eventual Regional qualifier Landon Mead from Sheffield 5-1.
Going 1-2 in the tourney were Logan Edmonds and Kaoz Baker. Also participating were Ashton Rex and Peyton Means. It was a good experience for our 6 wrestlers.
With hard work in the off-season by both wrestlers and staff, we will fill our line up next year and be more competitive!
