Mckayla And Kameron Kerle, Lucas Mitroski Qualify For Great Lakes Junior Golf Tour Championship

Three Clarion Area Golfers, upcoming junior Mckayla Kerle, her brother Kameron and Lucas Mitrosky, both upcoming freshmen have had fine success in the Great Lakes Junior Golf Tournaments, this summer. With their fine play all three have qualified for the Tour Championship, this coming Sunday and Monday.

Mckayla and Kameron’s mother and Clarion Area Assistant Golf Coach Jackie Kerle shares this summary of the trio’s play so far as they head to the Championship Match:

Mckayla and Kameron both played in The Great Lakes Junior Tournaments this summer as well as Lucas Mitrosky.
Mckayla was the season champion again this year. She was competing in the girls 16-19 age division. Mckayla had 2 1st place finishes this year and 5 3rd place finishes. Coming off of the softball season was a hard adjustment – she struggled on finding her golf swing in the first few tournaments, but once she did she she was a fierce competitor.

Kameron was the season champion in the boys 13-15 age division. Kameron won 7 of the 8 tournaments and had a 2nd place finish in his only loss in the Grove City Country Club/Whispering Woods Tournament. Kameron’s best tournament score this summer was at Meadville County Club where he carded a 2 day score of +13, shooting 80/77.

Lucas Mitrosky, a freshman this year at Clarion Area High School, played in 5 of the tournaments this season and had 4 top 10 finishes.
Mckayla, Kameron and Lucas all scored enough tour points to qualify for the 36 hole Tour Championship which will be held this Sunday and Monday (August 8th and 9th) at Lake View County Club, at North East. All summer they have competed against some of Erie’s top high school golfers.

Courses played: North Hills Golf Club (Corry), Lake Shore Country Club (Erie), The Ridge Golf Course (Waterford), Oakland Beach Golf Course (Conneaut Lake), Lawrence Park Golf Course (Erie), Green Meadows Golf Course (Noth East), Meadville Country Club, Grove City Country Club, Whispering Wood Golf Club (Erie).
