Bobcat Volleyball Team Hosts North Clarion In “Dig Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness Event

The Clarion Area Bobcats hosted North Clarion on Tuesday (October 12th), in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference match, which was part of the “Dig Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness and Fundraiser event.

How does Dig Pink work?

Dig Pink is The Side-Out Foundation’s signature fundraising event for breast cancer awareness and research, with over 9,000 events held on a local, county, city or statewide level every October. Dig Pink events can feature athletes and non-athletes alike. rom middle school volleyball teams to NCAA to adult leagues, Anyone, all the way from middle school volleyball teams to NCAA to adult leagues, can host a Dig Pink event.

 
According to Side Out’s website, “Side Out’s greatest ambition is to cultivate life-long advocates, extending the lives of those living with advanced metastatic breast cancer, and revolutionizing the trajectory of breast cancer treatments forever.”

Also as part of this event, locally folks are asked to please make a donation to Clarion Cancer Center.

As for the matches, Clarion’s Varsity won 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-14), while the Bobcat Junior Varsity won 2-0 (25-5, 25-22).

Grace Ochs had 14 points (4 aces) and two digs, for the Clarion in the Varsity match. Jordan Best scored 13 points (5 aces), to go along with an assist and a dig. Korrin Burns contributed 7 points (2 aces), 11 kills and three digs.

Noel Anthony dished out 28 assists, while providing 3 points (1 ace) and two digs. Aryana Grivan had 12 kills and a dig. Brianne Pierce registered 5 points (1 ace) and a dig.

Payton Simko recorded 2 points (1 ace), 5 kills and two digs. Adia Needham scored 2 points, both aces, and Taylor Alston had 2 kills and a dig.

Grace Ochs and Brenna Armstrong led the Cats, in scoring in the Junior Varsity match, with 15 (5 aces) and 14 points (3 aces) respectively. Ochs also had an assist and a dig.

Sophie Babington delivered 4 points (3 aces), a kill and three assists. Hadlee Campbell had 2 points (1 ace), a kill and an assist.

Taylor Alston registered a kill, 2 assists and a pair of digs. Gia Babington had 1 point (1 ace), a dig and two kills, and Alicyn Burford had an ace and two kills.
