Basketball Roundup: Bobcat Girls, Boys Drop Tournament Openers

The Clarion Area Girls and Boys Basketball Teams both dropped their holiday tournament openers.

The Girls dropped a 53-30 decision to North Clarion, in the Kane Holiday Tournament on Tuesday (December 28th).

The Wolves led 11-9 after one, 37-14 at the half and 44-17 after three.

Taylor Alston led the Bobcats with eight points. Payton Simko had 6 points and Gia Babington followed with five. Rebekah Ketner and Noel Anthony each had two points.

Claire Krieble scored 17 for North Clarion, followed by Gwen Siegel with thirteen.

The Bobcat Boys fell in a 42-41 squeeker, to Cameron County, in the Punxsutawney Holiday Tournament, on Wednesday (December 29th).

Cameron County led 16-10 after one and 27-17 at the half. A 15-7 Clarion edge in the third, had the Cats down by just two heading to the final stanza. A 9-8 Bobcat edge, in the fourth, set the final.

Devon Lauer led the Bobcats with 10 points, followed by Christian Simko with 8 and Aidan Quinn with seven. Dawson Smail scored 6 points, Gabe Simko had 4, and Kameron Merrell scored three.

Ryan Alston scored 2 points and Derrick Smail had one point.

Camdyn Allison and Hayden Brown had thirteen points each for the Raiders.

The Bobcats will face Marion Center in the consolation game.
