Bobcats Fall To Bulldogs In KSAC Girls Basketball Action

The Clarion Area Bobcats fell to the visiting Redbank Valley Bulldogs 43-30, on Friday (January 28th), in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference girls’ basketball matchup.

The score was knotted at 3-all in the first, when the Bulldogs went on an 8-0 run. Payton Simko ended the quarter with a bucket for the Bobcats and the Bulldogs led 11-5 after one.

Madison Foringer added two points to the Bulldogs’ lead with the opening bucket in the second. But a basket by Jordan Best and another on a turnaround jumper by Simko cut Redbank’s lead to 13-9. This was the start of a 10-4 Bobcat run. Taylor Alston had a pair of free throws and Simko had another Bucket in the run, which was capped off with Jordan Best sinking two from the foul line, leaving Clarion down by just two, 17-15 at the half.

Clarion tied the score, at 17-apiece, early in the third, when Best gathered a loose ball at about mid-court and took it in for the basket. Redbank went on a 12-5 run through the rest of the quarter, to take a 29-22 lead to the fourth. The Bulldogs had a 14-8 advantage in the last stanza, setting the final.

Simko led Clarion with nine points. Alston had 8 and Best followed with seven.

Madison Foringer and Avia Huffman led Redbank Valley with 10 points apiece.

Clarion is scheduled to travel to North Clarion on Tuesday (February 1st).
