Bobcat Baseball, Softball Teams Down Oilers

The Clarion Area Bobcat Baseball and Softball Teams were in action against the Oil City Oilers on Friday, May 13th, with Clarion teams coming out on top.

The homestanding Bobcat Baseball Team downed the Oilers 8-4 at Clarion County Park, while the visiting Bobcat Softball Team defeated Oil City 14-10.

Baseball

Oil City jumped out to a four run lead in the top of the first inning, their only runs of the game. The Bobcats scored two in the third, one in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Dawson Smail doubled and tripled for the Cats. He scored two runs and drove in a run. Dauntae Girvan had a single and a double, drove one in and scored once. Derek Smail singled and drove in a pair of runs.

Noah Harrison had a single, while Devon Lauer, Gabe Simko and Dawson Brinkley each scored a run.

Connor Highfield homered, drove in two runs and scored a run, and Jacob Teeter had a single and a homer for the Oilers.

The Bobcats are scheduled to host Rocky Grove, at Clarion County Park, on Tuesday (May 17th) for Senior Night, set for a 4:30p.m. start.

Softball

The Bobcats jumped out to an 8-0 lead after scoring one in the first and seven in the second. The Oilers cut their deficit to 8-2 with a pair of runs in the third. Clarion scored scored four in the top of the fourth, with Oil City answering with three runs in the bottom of the inning, giving the Cats a 12-5 lead.

Neither team scored in the fifth. The sixth inning saw Clarion plating two runs and Oil City scoring four, leaving the score 14-9, Clarion, heading to the final frame, where the Oilers scored their final run to set the 14-10 final.

Payton Simko had a three run home run, four RBIs and two runs scored for the Bobcats. Kylee Beers had a two run homer. Noel Anthony went 3-for-4, including a double, with an RBI and three runs scored. She was also the winning pitcher.

Jordan Best had a triple, drove in a pair of runs and scored once. Hadley Campbell singled twice and drove in three runs. Emily Troese singled and drove in two runs. Bri Forrest had a hit and scored a run. Haylee Kratsley scored twice. J.J. Wilson and Alexa Kitchen each scored a run.

Maddie Wenner had two doubles, a single and four RBIs for the Oilers.

Clarion is scheduled to host Moniteau at 4:15p.m. Monday (May 16th) at Paul A. Weaver Park.
