Coach Norb Baschnagel Reprises “Fun With Fundamentals” Basketball Summer Day Camp; To Take Place June 20th-24th At Joe’s Gym

After a two-year hiatus due to Covid, Coach Norb Baschnagel is once again hosting the “Fun with Fundamentals” Basketball Summer Day Camp.

Coach Baschnagal served as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at CUP, where one of his major responsibilities was recruiting. In three of his last four years as head recruiter, Coach Baschnagel recruited an NCAA Division II Basketball All-American on the Clarion University Team: Reggie Wells (1979), Alvin Gibson (1981), Joe Malis (1982).

He also recruited John Calipari who played point guard for Clarion University and is now Head Basketball Coach at the University of Kentucky. Coach Calipari’s Wildcats won the 2012 NCAA Division I National Championship. He is in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

Coach Baschnagel has spent 40+ Years of successful experience as a basketball player, master teacher, motivator, author, recruiter, and superior coach with a commitment to excellence. He has directed Fun with Fundamental Basketball Camps for 30+ Years (200+ Camps).

The camp, which is open to youngsters ages 8 to 14, will be held in an air conditioned setting, at Joe’s Gym, which is located two miles east of Clarion on Route 322. The camp runs Monday, June 20th through Friday, June 24th, 9:00 a.m. to noon each day.

Total cost for the camp is $150.00 which includes 18 hours of instruction and Dry -fit camp T-shirt.

“Our basketball camps are different than any other basketball camps that you might attend because the most important thing we teach you at our camps is “Sportsmanship”. My philosophy of life is based on four words “Give Me your Best”. Sportsmanship is a key element to a successful life and should be strived for in everything that you do.

“Sportsmanship starts with the 5 C’s: Character, Caring, Courtesy, Commitment and Courage.

“The emphasis of this camp is on teaching the quick and proper execution of basketball fundamentals and on developing positive attitudes and sportsmanship of each camper. The camp offers you the building blocks for achieving success in life and on the court. We strive to provide our campers with an enriching basketball experience and to develop a positive competitive spirit, improve skill level, have fun, acquire knowledge, and fair play through lecture, demonstration, individual instruction, and supervised competition. Our basketball staff members are outstanding and are excellent role models to help our campers improve in all areas of basketball and life.”

Daily activities will include: positive sportsmanship and attitude talk, dynamic warm-up and flexibility exercises, jump rope routine, stationary ball handling skills, ball handling challenges, principles of dribbling drills, offensive and defensive teaching stations, competition or games will be played, culminating camp activities and review each day.

There will be an Awards Ceremony at the conclusion of the camp from 12:00 noon to 12:30 p.m. on Friday. All parents and guests are invited to attend. The awards include: Lay-up Champ, Free Throw Champ, Jump Shot Champ, One-On-One Champ and Sportsmanship Award.
